Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy's first stage collaboration is with Paris's Opéra Garnier, for the ballet Boléro. Tisci says "Boléro is all about intensity! The music has such an intense feeling. I wanted the dancers to feel naked somehow. The costumes express two sides of me: darkness and romanticism."
I think the costumes are absolutely beautiful. The two aesthetics they represent--"darkness and romanticism"--come together beautifully (as they do in most Tisci creations--which is why I love them so much).
Here they are in action:
Wow.
